THIMBLE ISLANDS #2
9X12
OIL PASTEL & ACRYLIC
SOLD

This piece is a study of the rocky bed that forms the little islets that cluster along the Connecticut shoreline. While not a specific place, this work nevertheless reflects the sense of precariousness one feels when cruising around the Thimble Islands. Peering down into the depths of the water surrounding these little gems one is aware that these little rocky islets are but the tip of a vast under water world of rock.

The effect of the rocks lying underwater, is achieved using an oil pastel drawing with a wash of blue acrylic paint that leaves the original drawing unchanged. It is the same technique used in the first “Thimble Island” piece.
